Liz Earle |
| Liz Earle is known first and foremost for her passion for beauty, natural health and well-being. A life-long fascination for botanicals and natural remedies led to Liz’s early career as a magazine health and beauty editor. Using the special knowledge accumulated over many years of research, she later developed skincare formulations using unusual herbs, plant extracts, essential oils and vitamins. Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare was founded in 1995 with her great friend and business partner, Kim Buckland, and is based on the shores of the Isle of Wight in the UK.
Bringing her expertise to a wider audience, Liz first appeared on UK television in 1988 as the regular beauty presenter on ITV’s This Morning. Since then, Liz has hosted several network series of her own, including Liz Earle’s Lifestyle for ITV and Beautywise for BBC1. Keen to encourage dialogue between orthodox and complementary medicine, Liz co-founded the Guild of Health Writers in 1996 and was the Guild’s first Vice-Chairman. She was a co-founder of FLAG, the Food Labelling Agenda, which lobbied the British government for clear, comprehensive and meaningful food labelling. Liz has established links with many medical/botanical researchers and supports various dermatology research projects at institutions that include Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London. She is a Patron of the British National Eczema Society and sits on the Aromatherapy Regulation Working Group committee for statutory government regulation. In June 2007, Liz and Kim were awarded MBEs, an honour awarded by the Queen, for their services to the beauty industry. |

Anna Macleod |
|
Anna Macleod is our 'Research Botanist’ here at Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare. Her role involves working directly with Liz and the product development team researching new plant ingredients, their beneficial skin properties, how and where they are best grown and perhaps most importantly of all (and her favourite bit) establishing really close links with the suppliers and growers themselves. Only by really knowing the suppliers and their methods, is it possible to be sure that really only the very best quality ingredients are used in Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare. |

Anna initially studied for her degree at Strathclyde, before later moving to Bangor to complete a Masters degree focusing more specifically on botanical science and agricultural systems. Her dissertation on Ethiopian medicinal plants led to her working overseas for an International charity in countries such as El Salvador on Central America, Fiji in the South Pacific, and Kenya and Ethiopia in Africa. During a spell back in the UK, Anna was attending a course in medicinal botany at the world famous Chelsea Physic Garden, when she found herself standing next to Liz, both marveling at a particularly fine Gingko tree. Liz and Anna struck up a conversation, which quickly led to Anna joining the company as research botanist in 2000. |
