How to ace your base by Abigail James

If the Spring/Summer 17 catwalks are anything to go by then the ‘barely there’ make up trend looks set to continue. While brushing up on your make up skills can help to master this beauty look, in the long run, it’s much more beneficial to hone in on a tried and tested skincare routine. Easy to incorporate into your morning beauty ritual, it helps to create the ideal base for make up, enhancing your beauty look while improving your skin.

A good cleanser is key, as it’s the first product to lay the foundation for a beautiful base and prepares skin so that everything you put on top can work to the best of its ability. Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser deeply cleanses to remove all traces of daily grime and smoothes and moisturises skin.

After cleansing, you’ll need to gently sweep Instant Boost™ Skin Tonic over your skin. As well as refreshing and soothing for brighter-looking skin, it acts a bit like a primer, preparing skin to absorb your moisturiser.

Last but by no means least is the final step in your routine – an efficacious face cream. Skin Repair™ Moisturiser works to prepare your complexion for improved make up application. With 3 to choose from, there’s a Skin Repair™ to suit all skin types. Wait at least 60 seconds, or until the cream has absorbed, before applying your foundation.

These products only take a couple of minutes to apply each morning, but trust me when I say it’s time very well spent! Once you start using these as part of a 3-step routine you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them.

  • Hi Abigail,
I have combination skin type and had acne in the past and consequently still have scarring.
Is it ok to alternate the conditioners? I tend to use the superskin with neroli ( I love the smell and smoothness of this) at night and either the light or combination during the day and depending on what makeup I use.

  • Are suggesting that hot cleanse and polish should be used in the morning , even if every night I cleanse my face with it before bed? Why the need for two cleanses before and after sleep?
